Google Chromebooks: I have a class set of chrome books that students will be using all year! All assignments will be able to be viewed/worked on both at school and at home. All assignments are expected to be completed in class. Students who refuse to complete their class assignments and use the chromebooks to play games instead, will have their computers taken and will be given consequences according the school discipline matrix. The chromebooks are a privilege to use and a tool, not toys to be taken advantage of.Students will NEED some kind of headphones for their chromebooks as they will be required to watch educational videos. While I have a class set-they get damaged from use, and I am not always able to immediately replace them. If a student borrows one of my set and does not return them, they will no longer be allowed to borrow headphones from me. This causes students in other class periods to not have a set of headphones to borrow as there are then missing headphones. Therefore, the best way to ensure that your student has headphones is to have them bring their own set. Headphones can be purchased at the 99 Cents Store for $.99. **Students who are no longer allowed to borrow headphones from me are still required to view all assigned videos and complete all work that goes with them!**
Google Classroom: All assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. Students go to classroom.google.com where they will have access to both online classes. Students will have access to assignments and resources online and will be able to work on them at home. In the event of an absence, students will need to check the Google Classroom page for their assignments. Students are expected to complete all of their assigned work on the computers in class, they should not need to complete work at home unless they have been absent. The only exception will be projects and possible homework assignments which will be posted in advance with class time given as well.
Copy Policy: Copying other classmates’ work is not acceptable. Any work turned in by multiple students that is EXACTLY the same will be given a 0 grade. It is usually nearly impossible to determine whose work is original and whose is copied, therefore any identical works by multiple students will be given 0 grades. Any computer work that has no citations will also be given a 0 grade. Any computer work that has information that has been copy/pasted straight from the internet-even with a citation-will be given a 0 grade. It is important for students to be able to answer correctly in their own words without copying the information from the internet source.
